Insects
Insects are the largest and most diverse species of animals on the planet. Most insects hatch from eggs. Insect growth is constrained by the inelastic exoskeleton and development involves a series of molts. One useful identifying characteristic of the adult insect is 3 pairs of jointed legs - giving it six-legs. Beetles, moths, flies and wasps are four major insect groups.
